Not long until Fakenham Fair
This year’s Fakenham Fair will soon be upon us – the date and time to remember is Saturday 27th August at 2pm.
Kick Start Fakenham is encouraging the carnival spirit by organising some some fun before the Fair itself: The Great Duck Race is at 2pm on Sunday 21st August, starting at Goggs’ Mill near the Fakenham Garden Centre. Around 1,000 numbered plastic ducks will be floated down the Wensum and you can buy an entry in the race for just £1 from Sweets n Things in Oak Street. Details here.
Ducks are also a feature of the Great Duck Hunt too. Lots of plastic ducks have been placed in windows around the town. The person who spots the most ducks gets a chance in the Prize Draw. Get more details on the Fakenham Fair site.
On the day of the Fair, the carnival procession will be starting at 1pm, with floats and walking participants travelling along the route from Highfield Road car park, along Oak Street, through Market Place, down Bridge Street, turning left at Olivet Way and left again past Aldiss up to Queens Road and on to Millennium Park. There’s a map of the route on the Fakenham Fair website.
The Fair itself starts at 2pm in the park. Lots of stalls and arena events to look forward to, with the Community Centre Family Disco (part of Kick Start’s associated ‘Plubfest‘ Pub & Social Club Festival) rounding off events in the evening.
