Gloria runs her Nearly New Clothing stall with her mother in the shed on the market area between Bridge Street and Cattle Market Street. She has always loved second hand clothes and, as she says, it is fun mixing them and trying new ideas without a lot of cost.
Where are you from?
I was born in Guist and I have always lived in Norfolk.
How long have you been at Fakenham Market?
About 38 years.
What are your opening times here?
6.30am – 1pm.
What other markets do you attend?
What led you to running this stall?
My family were farmers, so it did not come from them! A friend of mine used to sell vintage clothing on a stall here, and I used to do lots of patchwork and sewing which I sold on her stall, and then as my children grew I started selling my baby clothes….and it went on from there.
What do you like about coming to Fakenham Market?
Down to earth friendly people. It’s a really good market, and it makes a good place to shop with the auction and all the town shops too. Nowadays with carboot sales, the internet and charity shops, I have less customers than when I first started but it is still doing well.
What do you sell ?
Modern nearly new clothes for all ages from children upwards.
