Eddie Street Books

eddie-street-booksEddie Street runs a stall selling brand new books at discount prices on the market area near Argos, just opposite Christie’s Cheese.

Where are you from?
Norwich.

How long have you been at Fakenham Market?
32 years.

What are your opening times here?
6.30am – 2pm.

What other markets do you attend?
Sheringham Saturday and Wednesday markets.

What led you to running this stall?
I like books and there is book dealing in my family. I used to work as a troubleshooter for Courtaulds for 18 years until the industry collapsed and I was also a semi-professional boxer. I then went on to bookselling at markets 6 days a week, but now am semi-retired.

What do you like about coming to Fakenham Market?
It’s a good old-fashioned market just how they used to be. Very friendly – I like the company. Holidaymakers and locals from all over the area come here as shopping here is an enjoyable sociable experience.

What are your best selling items?
Currently UK 2017 road maps at only £2. They are surprisingly popular with people who realise SatNav doesn’t do everything! I also sell an array of children’s books, colouring books, and paperback novels.
