Fakenham is thrilled to announce that we will be holding these popular road races on Easter Sunday 1st April 2018. This will be part of a Funday which will involve a series of official British Cycling Criterium road races and a Runengland 5k running race, as well as a 1K Fun Run with an Easter Goody bag for children taking part. There will be stalls in the Fakenham Market Place. All runners will get a medal and there will be prizes for winning runners and riders.
A one kilometre circuit through the town centre will be closed to facilitate the event. Race entries are limited so it advised to book early and electronic chip timing (not for the Fun run) so everyone will know their own time. There is a limit of 350 5K runners and 350 1k Fun Runners.

This is intended to be a fun and enjoyable event to take part in or just to come along to watch and cheer people on. It should be an exciting spectacle to watch. There will be commentary for all races broadcast across the market place.

Fakenham Criterium Races 2018

1st April 2018

These races will be run on closed roads round the picturesque North Norfolk town centre on an approx. 1k circuit. The event is being run by Active Fakenham with the help of the local club the East Coast Riders and others from around Norfolk.

The town centre will be closed to traffic for the day. Events will include British Cycling licenced cycle races for various ages and abilities, a 1K Easter Fun run, a 5K RunEngland mixed ability road race and local organisations running stalls and activities.

Criterium races cover most abilities from youth to National B (E,1, 2, 3) and a cat 4 race and this year includes a women’s race. Numbers will be limited to 45 per race as the one kilometre course is challenging with some tight corners, narrow roads and various surfaces, but with some fast straights and slight hills.

New Tourist Information Centre for Fakenham

sweetsnthingsFakenham now has a second Tourist Information point, this one open all year round. A dedicated hub for all things Fakenham has been created in the new Sweets ‘n’ Things premises in the Market Place (next to Nationwide). A wealth of information booklets are available as well as booking forms for many local community events.

The new TIC is a joint project by Sweets N Things’ proprietor Lisa Mallett, Active Fakenham’s Richard Crook and with support from Fakenham Area Partnership which organises the existing information pont at Fakenham Library. Volunteers will manage the area, with assistance from shop staff. New signage incorporating an attractive logo will be incorporated at the premises.

In association with the launch of the new information hub, the Fakenham.info website has been redesigned to reflect the new logo and signage. Future ‘Fakenham.info’ Town Guides, produced by Fabcom, will also take on the new look to present a consistent image for the town’s information.
